CCTV Maintenance Checklist for Businesses in Qatar
Regular checks should confirm that cameras are not only online, but actually recording usable footage when it is needed.
Check image quality, not only camera status
A camera can be online while the lens is dirty, the view is blocked, night image is poor or the focus has changed. Review real footage from critical positions.
Verify recording and playback
Open recorded footage from several dates and cameras. Confirm the expected recording schedule and that playback is continuous where required.
Review storage health and retention
Check disk status and whether the actual retention period matches the operational need. Changes in resolution or camera count can reduce retention.
Confirm date and time accuracy
Incorrect time makes evidence difficult to use. Check recorder time, timezone and synchronization across cameras where applicable.
Test remote viewing
Verify authorized remote access before an incident, not during one. Check accounts, app access and network connectivity.
Inspect cables, power and physical condition
Loose connectors, damaged cables, unstable power, moisture and poor mounting can create intermittent faults that are easy to miss.
