Start with the building, not the router
Concrete walls, multiple floors, stair cores, outdoor areas and equipment closets shape the radio environment. Mark where users actually need stable service before deciding on hardware.
Access points vs mesh
A wired access point uses Ethernet backhaul and is usually more predictable. Mesh can be useful where new cabling is difficult, but wireless backhaul and placement still matter.
Use Ethernet where reliability matters
TVs, NVRs, desktop workstations and fixed smart-home controllers often benefit from wired connectivity, leaving Wi-Fi capacity for mobile devices.
Plan roaming and channel use
Multiple access points should work as one coverage system. Channel planning, power levels and the selected controller/platform affect how devices move between coverage zones.
Test after installation
Do not stop when the access points power on. Test key rooms, gates, outdoor seating areas and high-use locations, then adjust placement or configuration if needed.
